General Radiotelephone Operator License Overview
A General Radiotelephone Operator License, or better known as GROL, is required to adjust, maintain, or internally repair FCC licensed radiotelephone transmitters in the aviation, maritime, and international fixed public radio services. The GROL is, by far, the most popular accounting for more than 80% of all commercial radio operator licenses issued by the FCC.
The FCC GROL is an important credential to solidify your knowledge and skill in the realm of aviation, marine, and land mobile communications. These licenses are a key that you will need if you are an aviation and marine electronics technician, Captain of a small ship, or a tech repairing and maintaining aircraft, ship, or land-based radio equipment or marine RADARs.
